“The BJP had got only one Lok Sabha seat in 2014 general elections and its number rose to eight in 2019. The saffron party lost three-four seats by a narrow margin of 10,000 to 12,000 votes. It is not a small achievement,” said Mahtab in an interview to a vernacular daily published on Sunday.
Mahtab said the BJD should not sit silent by grabbing more than a hundred Assembly seats in the 2019 elections. BJP would have won more than 50 seats if its winning in Lok Sabha seats are taken into consideration. It is also a matter of introspection, contended the six-time MP.
With the Narendra Modi Government coming to power since 2014, the BJD MP said the country has got a stable Government now. There was no stable Government in the country since 1979, he said.
The country’s governance has given rise to a changed situation with the Narenda Modi Government in power for the last seven years, he added.
