Bhubaneswar, May 28: BJP Odisha president Samir Mohanty on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing Rs 500 crore for relief, restoration and reconstruction activities in Cyclone Yaas-ravaged areas in Odisha.
“Prime Minister visited cyclone affected areas within 48 hours of the storm hitting the coast near Balasore. He also announced assistance of Rs 500 crore for undertaking relief, restoration and reconstruction activities. He is with the people of Odisha,” said Mohany.
He said the Central assistance will certainly help the cyclone affected people. He thanked the Prime Minister for his timely support.
Mohanty too informed that the Modi Government had earlier this month released Rs 641.60 crore from the National Disaster Management Fund for Odisha. The State Disaster Management Fund has now a total of Rs 2,339 crore, which can be used for relief, reconstruction and restoration works in the cyclone-affected areas now, he said.
