Angul, Feb 11: A blind belief that villagers of Beladula of Kandhapada gram panchayat under Angul district’s Athamalik block had for over 200 years came to an end with construction of cement concrete-roofed house.
According to information, the villagers had a blind belief that any family who would construct a concrete-roofed house will lose the head of the family. For this, affluent persons of the village were not able to accumulate courage to construct a CC-roofed pucca house. While many houses are thatched ones, a few are asbestos and tile roofed.
Recently, a village committee took a decision that a CC-roofed Thakur Ghar (House of God) will be constructed in the village first and then villagers would build concrete-roofed houses. Accordingly, villagers contributed money as per their capacity and a concrete-roof was put on the under-construction Thakur Ghar Thursday.
