As many as five squads have been formed to conduct thermal screening on people in malls, chhaks and crowded markets.
Teams of Commissionerate police have also started conducting raids to impose fines on them who are found not wearing masks and maintaining social distancing at public places.
The BMC has risen to action again in the wake of Covid cases surging in Maharashtra and in some other States. “We have to ensure that Covid-19 guidelines are enforced strictly by all at markets, malls and other places,” said BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhury.
The BMC resumed enforcing the COVID-19 safety protocols a day after receiving instructions from the SRC, which issued 10 guidelines on Sunday and asked district Collectors, civic bodies and SPs to ensure their execution in their respective areas.
