As per reports, vehicular movement between Kantamal of Boudh district and Baliguda in Kandhamal district on SH-41 was disrupted today as water from the swollen Tel river flowed at three-fight high over a stretch between Ambagam Ghatpada to Badapadar road on the highway.
Hundreds of vehicles and people have remained stranded on both sides of the road till the last reports came in.
With heavy inflows of water in the Tel river due to sporadic rainfall in the upper catchment area, the water level is flowing at danger mark at different places in the district.
Several low-lying villages along the Tel river bank were submerged to the flood water. Several villages in Kantamal area are inundated, while standing crops spread across hundreds of acres were damaged, locals said.
