Jagatsinghpur, Feb 23: The Excise officials seized 17 grams of brown sugar from Kansa village in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Tuesday and arrested one person in this connection.
The accused has been identified as Tiki Mohammad of the same locality.
Acting on a tip off, the Excise sleuth conducted a raid Tiki’s house in the village and recovered 17 grams of brown sugar from his house. Subsequently, the officials seized the contraband and arrested Tiki.
The estimated cost of the seized brown sugar will be around Rs 1. 77 lakh, an official said.
A case has been registered against the accused person under NDPS Act and further investigation is underway, said a senior official.
