Cuttack, Feb 21: Continuing with its crackdown on illegal drug traders, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police seized 175 grams of brown sugar from a roadside hotel near Ankula under Athagarh Police Station on Sunday and arrested two persons.
The held peddler duo has been identified as the owner of the hotel Prashant Sahoo and his employee.
As per the report, the STF got an input on the ongoing drug trade inside the Parijat Hotel located on the side of Puruna Cuttack-Sambalpur road a few days back and put it under its scanner. The hotel was raided finally in the morning today.
As during the search of the hotel a packet of 175 grams of brown sugar was found, Prashant and his employee were taken into custody.
The seized brown sugar will cost around Rs 7 lakh, said STF.
Charges under the relevant Sections of NDPS Act have been slapped against the held peddler duo and further investigation is underway into the case.
