Sambalpur, Feb 27: As many as 25 students of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla in Odisha’s Sambalpur district have tested positive for Covid-19, university sources said on Saturday.
According to the sources, the university authorities have asked the students, who came in contact with the Covid-19 positive students, to quarantine themselves for 72 hours.
The authorities have also suspended the physical classes for the first year students after the 25 students tested positive for coronavirus.
The Covid outbreak in the university has now triggered an alarm of the possible second wave of coronavirus outbreak in the State.
Meanwhile, District Collector Shubham Saxena and other senior officials visited VSSUT and reviewed the situation.
Notably, the State reported as many as 86 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
Sundargarh district registered the maximum number of new cases at 11, followed by Sambalpur and Khordha at 9 each.
