Balasore, Feb 23: With no respite in sight from jumbo deaths in the State, carcass of a elephant calf has been found floating in a dam under Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district on Tuesday.
As per the report, some staff of the sanctuary found the calf carcass floating in the Rishia dam located not very far from the Gohirabhola Nature Camp early morning today and informed the authorities.
Later under the direction of Kuldiha Ranger Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, a forest team with Veterinarians rushed to the spot and seized the dead animal.
“The dead jumbo calf which was found today will be aged around one and a half and two years. The autopsy report is awaited to ascertain its cause of deatn,” said Mohapatra.
