The incident took place while hundreds of people from Hanspur were staging a protest on Tara Tarini Main Road by burning tyres and demanding action against the miscreants involved in the murder.
The deceased woman identified as Arati Pradhan was scheduled to wed slain Krushna Chandra on May 13. Ahead of taking the extreme step she reportedly messaged Krushna’s nephew Rakesh Sahu over phone expressing her frustration over the delay in justice in the case.
Arati was rushed to Munshipentha CHC in critical condition after the suicide attempt but succumbed under treatment.
Krushna was returning home after closing his cement shop on the fateful night of April 22. He was about to leave for his home after visiting a temple when Angad Biswal, Pankaj Biswal, Seema Biswal and Bichitra Biswal attacked him with sticks and stones to kill on the spot. They allegedly committed the crime to settle score in business rivalry.
While police arrested all four involved in the case for questioning subsequently, the main accused Bichitra was released yesterday. The release shocked Krushna Chandra’s fiancée and ultimately forced to take the extreme step, claimed a villager.
