Bhubaneswar, Mar 18: The issues of Mandi mismanagement and non-procurement of paddy reached Naveen Niwas with Opposition BJP members moving there in a “Search for CM” drive and holding discussions with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday.
While the Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA), which is in Budget Session now, witnessed stalemate over the issue for consecutive sixth day, the Opposition BJP members took seriously of the Chief Minister’s continued physical absence in the House and undertook a “Search for CM” drive and moved to the CM’s residence Naveen Niwas. On arrival, they staged a dharna in front of the CM’s residence. However, the Chief Minister came in person to them and invited them to his residence for a discussion on the paddy issue.
“The Chief Minister came to us and invited us to his residence for a discussion. He assured that he will attend proceedings of the House and hold talks with the Speaker to call an all-party meeting for discussion on the paddy procurement issue and smooth functioning of the House,” said Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik.
Government Chief Whip Pramila Mallick and BJD MLA Debi Prasad Mishra claimed that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has all concerns for farmers. “The Chief Minister came to BJP members and invited them for a discussion. It shows that the Chief Minister is always with farmers,” said Mishra.
