The sanctuary is not only valuable for the State or India, but also important for the world. We must protect it,” the Chief Minister said while chairing a review meeting on the fire situation in the Sanctuary forest.
Forest and Environment Department Additional Chief Secretary Mona Sharma told the meeting that the fire in Similipal was very much under control. No loss of life has occurred and large trees are intact, she said.
The ACS further informed that an SOP has been issued in connection with the fire in the sanctuary. The DFO has been asked to provide daily report on fire to the State Government and the Mayurbhanj District Collector every evening, she added.
She said the PCCF Wildlife is camping in the sanctuary and keeping eye on the situation.
