Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday directed concerned officials to enhance allocation of fund for the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) to Rs 200 crore from the next fiscal. He too directed to open WODC offices in 10 districts & Atthamallick.
Reviewing progress of programmes undertaken by the WODC, the Chief Minister asked officials to create job avenues for local youths.
The WODC was established in 1999-2000 with a Budget allocation of Rs 3 crore. It has now increased to Rs 100 crore. With Chief Minister’s decision, the WODC will get Rs 200 crore from 2021-22 fiscal. Currently, 10 districts are working under the Council.
Besides directing to expedite projects, Patnik asked officials to open one office in each district coming under the WODC. He also directed to open an office in Athamallikc council office in Angul district.
WODC Chairman Asit Triphaty briefed about various projects being undertaken by the council in 10 districts.
