Bhubaneswar, June 8: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday sanctioned financial assistance package of Rs 26,29,71,000 for the street vendors, who have been affected due to the lockdown and shutdown imposed in view of Covid-19 pandemic, in urban areas across the State, his office said.
“The second wave of Covid has hit lives and livelihoods. The street vendors in urban areas are suffering financially due to lockdown imposed to check the spread of the virus. In view of this, Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs 26,29,71,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for those who make a living as street vendors in various urban areas of the state,” read a release issued by the the CMO.
As many as 87,657 street venders from across the State will be benefitted, it added.
The street venders, particularly in the urban areas across the State, have been massively affected due to the ongoing lockdown/shutdown clamped in the State to contain the spread of Covid-19 cases.
