Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday visited the Baramunda bus stand in the city here to keep an eye on the ongoing development work there. Later, he reviewed the progress of the up-gradation work with concerned officers.
According to information, renovation and modernisation works of the State’s largest bus stand has been going on for the past few months after the State Cabinet approved a proposal in September 26, 2019. The project, Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), is targeted to be completed by August 2022.
The bus stand will be developed into two regions; a bus terminal and a commercial area. While the bus stand spreads over 15.5 acres of land, development works will be undertaken on 11 acres now. The rest 4.5 acres will be reserved for expansion of the bus stand in future. An outlay of Rs 160.66 crore has been made for the renovation, modernisation and infrastructural development work at the bus stand, said a Transport Department official.
