According to the India Metrological Department (IMD)’s latest bulletin, 11 cities recorded minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius and in 8 places mercury dipped below 8 degree Celsius. Kandhamal district is the worst affected by the cold waves. For weeks, Kandhamal has been shaking under the cover of winter.
Meanwhile, dense fog occurred at one or two places in the state.
Phulbani is the coldest city in Odisha. Phulbani had a low of 5 degrees Celsius, while Daringbadi had a low of 6.5 degrees Celsius. Yellow warnings have been issued in seven districts of inland Odisha.
However, the cold and dry wind entering Odisha from the north and north-west is slowly weakening. Therefore, the night temperature is likely to rise by 2 to 4 degrees over the next 2 days.
