Cuttack, Feb 26: Congress workers led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik on Friday took out a rally in Mahanga area over “deteriorating” law and order situation and farmer issues in the area.
Among others, senior party leader Debendra Sahoo and Cuttack DCC president Manas Chodhury participated in the rally, taken out from Kunapal to Tehsil office in Mahanga.
“Murder has been normal affair in Mahanga area. Police are not taking appropriate action. The State Government is in deep slumber,” alleged Patnaik.
On framer issues, Patnaik said thousands of quintals of paddy have remained unsold as the State Government is not procuring them. Mandis are functioning properly. Tokens are not being regenerated. Farmers have suffered a lot,” alleged the Congress leader.
He demanded that all accused in the Kulamani and Dibyasingha murder cases be arrested soon and paddy procured from all intending farmers across the State.
