Sundargarh, Apr 14: In a first during the ongoing second wave of coronvirus in Odisha, a gram panchayat in Sundargarh district has been declared lockdown for three days in view of stiff rise in Covid 19 infection cases in the locality.
According to information, the entire Badagaon GP has been declared lockdown by Sarpanch Sushila Dansana. The Sarpanch has intimated the decision to the BDO, Tehesilar and the police station in an official communiqué.
“In view of rise in Covid positive cases, the Badagaon GP is declared lockdown for three days from April 15 to 17. Besides, there will be no weekly haat on April 18 and Hatli haat on April 15. Only emergency services will resume,” said the order issued by the Sarpanch.
The Sarpanch said a copy of the decision has been sent to the BDO, Tehsildar and the police station for necessary action.
Notably, over 50 persons have tested positive in the GP during the last one week.
“The lockdown was declared as a measure to check further spread of the virus,” said the Sarpanch.
