The drive which kicked off at 8 am to continue till 1 pm witnessed serpentine queues of youngsters in front of the UPHCs and other government hospitals assigned with the duty. They braved the blistering hit to get the jab.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities went ahead with the third phase vaccination after the State received 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin from Bharat Biotech a few days back.
A target has been set by the ULB to vaccinate as many as 5 lakh beneficiaries under it in the coming days.
While the third phase vaccination involving people in the 18-44 age group started today, the vaccination of those above 45 years will continue simultaneously with a different timing.
As per the earlier decision those aged 45 and above will receive their jabs between 3 pm and 6 pm at the same centres where the 18-44 year age group is being vaccinated.
Citizens in 18-44 age group have been told to get them registered first on one of the three available platforms for the same namely CoWin, Aarogya Setu and Umang app before coming to the vaccination cetres for the jab.
