“Odisha is likely to see a peak in the Covid cases by January 25. The daily caseload may reach 17,000 to 18,000 during this period,” said Dr. Niroj Mishra, Health Expert.
Mumbai and Delhi have already passed the peak. As per the Sutra model, the rest of the county will witness the peak by January 23, he added. “ The State is witnessing the trend in the Covid cases as the testing has been decreased. The rising Covid cases will continue till next six days, then the daily infections will decline,” Dr. Mishra said.
The health expert also focused on vaccination. “ The Delta variant won’t affect them, who have received the anti-Covid vaccine. The vaccine will also help in fighting any new variant,” he said.
Odisha recorded 11,607 new Covid-19 cases including 991 minors in the last 24 hours. Out of the total positive cases, 6,728 cases were detected from the quarantine centres, while 4,879 local contacts cases.
Khordha district, where capital city Bhubaneswar is located, recorded the highest number of fresh infections with 4,347 cases, followed by Cuttack at 898, Sambalpur at 390, Balasore at 305, Balangir & Rayagada at 229, Jharsuguda at 219 and Nayagarh at 206.
