Bhubaneswar, Apr 24: Director, Medical Education and Training Dr CBK Mohanty on Saturday said there has been a little improvement marked in the Covid infection rate in Odisha during the last few days and the rate is expected to decline from the May first week.
“The number of daily Covid infection was rising rapidly a few days back but has slowed now. As per the report of the Kharagpur IIT, the infection rate is expected to decline from May first week,” said Dr Mohanty.
He said the State has remained all prepared to provide treatment to any number of Covid patients. “The number of beds has increased and, if required, will increase further. In case of emergency, Covid Care Centres can be converted into temporary hospitals,” said Dr Mohanty.
He said that the Covid situation in Odisha is comparatively better than other States. He said triple mutant variant, which is more infectious, has not been seen in Odisha yet. All precautions are being made to prevent spread of the variant.
