Puri, Apr 25: In order to check spread of the coronavius, the Puri district administration has once again put restrictions on cremation of dead bodies of people of outside the district at the Swargadwar (Gate to Heaven) here.
“We have restricted creation of dead bodies of people of districts other than Puri at Swargadwar as a measure to check spread of the Covid virus,” said district Collector Samarth Verma.
He said dead bodies of people of Puri district having negative report for Covid will be only allowed for cremation at Swarga Dwar. Bodies of people dying of Covid infection will be cremated at a crematorium at Mangala River ghati at Sipasarubali, he said.
The Collector said the restrictions will be relaxed once an improvement in Covid situation is marked.
Sources said the administration is likely to restrict Asthi Bisarjan (Ritual of disposing bone) and Suddha Kriya (Death anniversary rituals) at Swetaganga.
