Cuttack, Sep 22: Hundreds of depositors and agents of the Sahara India on Wednesday staged a demonstration at Chandini Chowk branch office here, demanding early release of matured deposits.
Holding a banner, the protesters walked down in a rally and sat on a dhrana in front of the Sahara India office.
“Almost two years have passed since my deposits reached maturity. Despite repeated approaches, they are not paying back,” said a depositor.
Another affected depositor said though his deposits got matured three years back he is yet to get his savings back.
“The Sahara India is taking plea of a pending case at the Supreme Court. However, depositors’ money has no link with the case as these deposits come under the Multi State Credit Cooperative Society,” said an agent.
He said the company is now converting matured savings into other schemes alluring customers. “We have already submitted a memorandum to the district Collector. The Collector forwarded our grievance to the Economic Offence Wing. This is the only assurance we have got so far,” said the agent.
