Cuttack, Feb 10: The Cuttack district administration on Wednesday directed to shut down the Sun Hospital at Tulsipur here for a temporary period in connection with the fire mishap that occurred at the hospital on February 1.
District Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani said the decision was taken as the concerned hospital authorities failed to produce satisfactory explanations regarding the fire mishap.
Chayani said that the private-run hospital was operating without fire safety license and it has been shut for a temporary period. “No patients will be treated or any medical tests will be conducted in the hospital till further order,” the Collector said.
On February 1, a major fire broke out on the top floor of the multi-specialty hospital. All patients were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital and other health facilities in the city.
However, no causality was reported in the fire mishap.
As many as seven fire tenders were pressed into service to control the blaze while the exact cause of the fire mishap was not ascertained.
