According to information, the water-borne disease had affected villagers in Jharigaon and Nandahandi blocks a few days back and, now it is spreading in Papadahandi block in the district.
A 60-year-old woman died of diarrhoea at Tulasipadar village of Maidalpur gram panchayat today, while 13 of the villagers are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
A team of the Papadahandi Mobile Health Workers is now camping in the village to provide treatment to villagers. A team of public health workers has also reached the village and inspected water being consumed by villagers.
According to them, the disease spread in the village because of consumption of contaminated water from canal and other water sources by the villagers.
