On the other hand, Jajpur SP Rahul PR said the incident is being dealt-in seriously and miscreants would be nabbed soon.
Beura was travelling in a car when some miscreants hurled bombs at him near Imam Nagar at Dharmashala last night. While the victim is undergoing treatment in a hospital, his family members have lodged an FIR at the Dharmashala police station.
“RTI activists are working to bring corruption to the fore. However they are being attacked. I condemn the attack on them,” said Congress senior MLA Narasingha Mishra.
Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik condemned the attack. “Sarbeshwar Beura, a BJP leader and a known RTI activist, had been raising voice against corruption practices. Miscreants involved in illegal activities have attacked him. Miscreants should be arrested forthwith,” demanded Naik.
He demanded that a high-level probe be conducted to bring to fore the influential persons who are behind the attack.
BJP general secretary Lekhasri Samantsinghar expressed unhappiness over the incident and said, “BJP leader and RTI activist Sarbeshwar Beura has been attacked with political intension. The DGP should intervene immediately and arrest the criminals at the earliest.”
When contacted by reporters, SP Rahul PR said he and his subordinates visited the site last night. “The incident is being death with all seriousness. Inquiry has started. Action will be taken soon.”
In a reaction to the Argus News, Beura said he was attacked as he was raising manmade river embankment breach, popularly known as Mamun-Bhanaja Ghai, and many other illegal practices being resorted in Jajpur district. Two miscreants coming on a bike hurled four bombs at him, he said.
