Acting upon a tip-off a joint team of Malgodown and Cuttack Sadar Police raided a house in the area and found several items used in manufacturing duplicate ghee including, palmolein oil, Ruby Refine Oil, Dalda Ghee and along with chemical and colour essence from the spot.
Police suspect that the accused owner was producing duplicate Durga Ghee with the help of these items.
Similalry, the cops also came across the labels of well-known ghree manufacturing brands, packaging items, plastic jars and machinery from the spot and seized those.
At least two persons along with the owner of the house were detained by police from the spot for questioning during the raid.
Notably, in a similar fashion Jagatpur Police under the supervision of Cuttack Zone-I ACP Amarendra Panda had raided a pan masala manufacturing unit in Jagatpur Industrial Estate on November 23 and seized tobacco worth over Rs 10 lakh. Some chemical packs used in the tobacco production were also seized from the spot.
A few days earlier, Khandagiri Police in Bhubaneswar had raided a fake tobacco manufacturing unit under its limits and detained the accused owner with Rs 30 lakh. Raw materials, machinery and labels of branded companies used to manufacture the illicit tobacco were seized from the spot.
