The held accused has been identified as Rabindra Nayak. He is a local resident.
As per the allegation, Rabindra and his son Bikash had set up a duplicate mosquito repellent production unit in Tarinigada a few years back. The duo kept on producing substandard products by using logo and packets of Karnataka-based Sleep Well Mosquito Repellent company till the matter came to the latter’s notice.
After the company filed a case to Bengaluru Police it conducted a raid in Tarinigada with the help of Paradip Police and took the accused into custody. However, his son managed to escape.
Raw materials, tools and machinery used in producing the fake product were also seized from the spot by police.
