Jharsuguda, July 20: Tightening the noose around the necks of corrupt officials, Rourkela Vigilance unit conducted simultaneous raids against Bhawanipatna Polytechnic Engineering College principal Surya Narayan Ray over amassing disproportionate assets on Tuesday.
The anti-corruption wing officials reportedly raided seven places in total including Ray’s double-storey residence located near Laxminarayan College and another double storey house, a house in Kendrapara, official residence in Bhwanipatna, a building in his name in Bhubaneswar and the Sundergarh Minor Irrigation office where Ray’s wife works.
During the raid the Vigilance sleuths checked land documents, bank passbooks and insurance bonds.
Informing on the action, Rorkela Vigilance DSP Birendra Kumar Nayak said the exact amount of disproportionate assets found in the name of the guilty officials could be declared only after the raid ends.
