Bhubaneswar: In order to make a study on Covid19 Delta Plus infection, an epidemiology team from the Centre has arrived in Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) where Odisha’s lone Delta Plus variant patient underwent treatment.
According to information, the infected person has been cured. He had been vaccinated against Covid on March 30.
The team will examine health condition of the infectee and conduct contact tracing. The officials will also verify condition of those, who came in contact with him recently and if they were vaccinated.
Director of Health Services Bijay Mohapatra said the Delta Plus variant infectee was vaccinated on March 30 but later contracted the virus after coming in contact with a person infected by the virus.
The Central team is likely to conduct an inquiry to know if any of persons, who had come in contact with the infected, has got infection or not. The team would talk to treating doctors as well.
“The patient had no symptoms since he was vaccinated against Covid 19 in March. In May, his sample had been sent for genome sequencing. His health condition is stable now,” said Health Director Bijay Mohapatra.
He said special strategies are being taken to check spread of virus in districts where infection rate is high. Surveillance and vaccination are being done on war-footing basis in those districts. The State Government has kept vigil and analysing daily cases. A high-level committee will meet soon to decide a further measure after June 30.
