Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Pradipta Kumar Naik on Wednesday wrote to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik advising him to undertake developmental works in border areas so that people of those areas don’t get attracted to neighbouring States.
Noting about recent elections held in Kotia area in Koraput district bordering Andhra Pradesh, Naik expressed concern that Odisha people participated in the polls of the neighbouring State.
“We had visited the area and found that Odisha Government’ inefficiency is as much responsible as the tricks played Andhra Pradesh. Some people have been attracted to the neighbouring State in view of lack of developmental works done in the area,” wrote Naik.
He suggested to the Chief Minister to undertake all developmental works in the bordering areas without waiting for a judgement from the Supreme Court.
“Most of the people residing in border areas are tribals. The Odisha Government should give priority on protection of their culture. Acceleration of developmental works will certainly resolve the issue,” contended Naik.
