Issuing an orange warning to the seven districts, the IMD said, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Angul.” The alert has been sounded till Sunday 8.30 am.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha, predicted the IMD.
“The Low Pressure Area over coastal Odisha & neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation is extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level persists. The monsoon trough now passes through center of Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining coastal areas of Saurashtra & Kutch, Dessa, Sagar, Pendra Road, Hirakud, centre of Low Pressure Area over coastal Odisha & neighborhood and thence southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level,” said IMD.
