Bargarh, Feb 22: Even as farmers under the banner of Rajbodasambar Krushak Sangathan have been sitting on a dharna in front of the Sub-Collector’s office at Padmapur in Bargarh district for the last 12 days, no official from district administration has turned there to listen to their demands.
They have been demanding regeneration of lapsed tokens and procurement of paddy from all Mandis operating under the Padmapur subdivision. They have sat on dhrana by keeping many tractors loaded with paddy packets.
Angry farmers have now decided to intensify the agitation and lock the Tehesil and Sub-Collector offices to press for their demands.
“Tokens of over 4,500 farmers have lapsed due to delay in paddy procurement process. Over seven lakh packets of paddy are lying at 70 Mandis across Padmapur subdivision. We went tokens regenerated and paddy procured from all farmers soon,” said an agitating farmer.
He said the Sanghathan has decided to lock Tehsil and Sub-Collector’s office from today.
