Soon after the House assembled at 11 am, Opposition parties—BJP & Congress and the ruling BJD obstructions the proceedings of the House over issues related to farmers in the state resulting in several suspensions before the Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha adjourned the House.
Initially, the Speaker adjourned the House for 30 minutes amid uproar over the issue. Further chaos prevailed when the House reassembled later Arukha adjourned the House till 4 pm and later till Saturday at 11 am.
Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given an Adjournment Motion on Gop Zilla Parishad Member Dharmendra Sahoo suicide case for discussion in the State Assembly. It couldn’t be discussed today as the House has been adjourned till 4 pm.
Earlier, the BJP members staged protest inside the Assembly premises.
The BJP members demanded that input subsidies should be provided to all farmers who have lost crops due to drought in the State. The members were seen standing with posters in their hands. The posters mentioned demands and agitations like, “Stop weight cuts of paddy in Mandis”, “The State Government is doing Dalali for Millers”, “Stop illegality in registration of farmers”, “Give farmers’ list to the Centre for PM Kissan Yojana”, “We demand input subsidy be paid soon to farmers” and “Neglect to Annadata (rice provider) unacceptable” etc.
