Balasore, Feb 11: The Additional Distrct Jddge Court here in Odisha sentenced former cameraman of the Defence Research Development Organisation's (DRDO) to life imprisonment on Thursday for spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.
Iswar Behera, a former contractual cameraman of the DRDO’s Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in the State, was sentenced to life term after he was found guilty of passing confidential information to ISI regarding testing of missiles at the ITR.
A resident of Kantipur village near Baisinga in Mayurbhanj district, Behera, was employed as a cameraperson on contractual basis in 2007 and had been spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for 8-10 months between 2014 and 2015.
He was arrested in June 2015 after getting intelligence inputs about his suspicious activities. Later , he confessed of passing on sensitive information about missile tests to the Pakistani agent.
