Balasore, Apr 1: Forest officials arrested as many as four poachers and seized a country-made gun from them in Jalachua area under Kuladiha wildlife sanctuary in Balasore district's Nilgiri area last night.
Advised by Nilgiri Ranger Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, a forest team led by Forester Umakant Jena conducted raids in Jalachuar area. They found six poachers armed with weapons moving suspiciously in the area. They soon intercepted them and managed to arrest four of them, while the other two escaped.
One of the arrested accused has been identified as Basant Madhei of Betakata area. The team also seized a country-made pistol, some explosives and live bullets from the possession of the arrestees, who have also been forwarded to court.
