The accused persons have been identified as Malay Pradhan, a teacher of a State-run Primary School, Pintu Pradhan, Sanshadhar Sahu, Pale Sahu and Kalia Sahu of Santarabandha village. They were allegedly betting money on card games.
Acting on a tip off about a gambling den was being run at the premises of Shri Jagannath Temple in Santarabandha village, Chhendipada Police conducted a raid the place and arrested the accused persons.
Police also seized cash worth over lakhs of rupees, bike, some mobile phones and cards from the spot.
“A case under the Gaming Act has been registered at Chhendipada police station and the accused persons have been forwarded to the court. Further investigation is underway,” a police officer said.
