Based on a tip-off that a ganja consignment is heading to Haryana from Surmi, a joint team of Machkund and Lamataput Police led by Nandapur SDPO put up a blockade on the road connecting the village following a direction from Koraput SP and launched a vehicle search.
During the inspection police came across four bags of ganja from a speeding car and seized them as two persons boarding the vehicle failed to produce necessary permit for ganja transportation.
The held accuseds have been identified as Santosh Khemundu and Samesh Niriki. Both are residents of Surmi village.
The market value of the seized ganja consignment will be around Rs 10 lakh, said police.
