The accused JE has been identified as Sudhansu Sekhar Mallick.
As per reports, Mallick had demanded Rs 7,000 from a beneficiary under “Mo Guhal Scheme” for facilitating the release of material costs towards the construction of a cattle Shed in favour of him.
The beneficiary however approached the Vigilance Department and sought action against the accused JE.
On the basis of the complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Mallick red-handed while he was taking the bribe from the complainant.
The entire bribe amount of Rs 7,000 has been recovered from him and seized, the Vigilance officials said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches began at two locations associated with Mallick.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance PS Case (16/2022) U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Further investigation is underway, the officials added.
