As per the report, sparks erupted at the victim’s house while she was alone in the morning and spread very fast. Though neighbours swung into action immediately and tried to save the victim, she remained trapped inside the house and dies due to suffocation and burn injuries subsequently.
Koksara Police and the local fire brigade officials rushed to the spot a few minutes later and brought the blaze under control.
The charred body of the victim was rushed for autopsy of late.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the inferno might have resulted from the leakage of an LPG cylinder at the kitchen.
Notably in another LPG cylinder leakage case in the State, properties worth lakhs had been gutted after a massive fire broke out at a shop in Binika area of Sonepur district last Saturday.
