Gun traders’ racket busted; 7 arrested

Cuttack, Mar 31: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police busted a racket of illegal gun traders by arrested seven criminals from Chauliaganj area in Cuttack city on Wednesday.

The arrested include hardcore criminals Bijay Nayak and Jagannath Das, informed Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi at a Press meet here.

The police seized seven guns, 65 rounds of bullet, car, bike and mobile phones from their possession. Police suspect that the miscreants had procured country-made pistols from Munger in Bihar.

While arrested Bijya Nayak and Jagannath Dash were reportedly involved in the killing of Kendrapada gangster Suleman and were on bail, police suspect that the miscreants had a plan to commit more criminal acts in future. Police have started further investigations.
