Malkangiri, Feb 14: Odisha police arrested three people from Chitrokonda in Malkangiri district for allegedly dealing with illegal trade of Hanuman coin, gemstones and wildlife products.
The accused have been identified as Mohan Trivedi of Odisha, Itham Sethi Venkat Ramana and KrupabharamTrpalli of Andhra Pradesh.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Chitrakonda police led by IIC Surya Prakash Patnaik conducted raids at the house of Trivedi at daily market in Chitrakonda Sadar in the district.
Police reportedly seized large numbers of Hanuman coins, 50 antique copper coins, gemstones, a deer skin, a double barrel gun, Rs 12, 310 in cash, a scooter, three mobile phones and ATM cards from the house.
Police sources said, the accused people were defrauding local people by trading Hanuman coins and gemstones.
“The accused trio have been arrested on charges of trading Hanuman coins, gemstones and wildlife products illegally, and possessing gun. Further investigation is on,” a police official said.
