“The water lever of Hirakud reservoir has continuously risen due to incessant rains in the Mahanadi upper catchment area. It is informed to the public that the first floodwater will be released from the reservoir at 11 am on July 18. Thus, the water level in the Mahanadi and its branch rivers will rise. People residing along downstream Mahanadi are advised not to enter into the river and to take precautions while using its river for any purpose,” a notification issued by the Chief Engineer said.
Hirakud Dam authorities will not be held responsible for any kind of mishap, read the notification further.
