Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: BJP Odisha in-charge D Purandeswari on Thursday pulled up the Naveen Patnaik severely for failing to give justice to little girl Paree, who was allegedly abducted and murdered in her native village Jadupur in Nayagarh district in July this year, and constituting a “powerless” SIT to probe the sensitive incident.
“I want to ask CM Naveen Patnaik that how can a SIT, having no judicial power, investigate into the murder case of Paree,” Purandeswari told reporters after meeting Paree’s parents at Jadupur.
Mentioning that the SIT is being headed by State Road and Transport Corporation MD Arun Bothra, Purandeswari viewed that the IPS officer has no judicial power to conduct an investigation into a murder case unless he is empowered to do so.
“I learn that the officer (Bothra) has no judicial power to probe the sensitive case. How can the Government give justice to slain Paree and her bereaved parents,” wanted to know the BJP MP.
She also alleged that the Chief Minister is protecting Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo who is allegedly shielding the main accused.
Smelling an organ trading racket was behind the murder of the five-year-old girl, Purandeswari, also a former Union Minister, said the Government should show keenness to bring the truth out and punish culprits at the earliest.
“The BJP wants a CBI inquiry into the incident and ouster of Minister Arun Sahoo at the earliest,” Purandeswari said adding that the CBI can bring the truth to light and punish culprits.
She said the BJP would not sit silent until Paree and her parents have not been given justice.
