Mayurbhanj, Feb 19: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal miners in the district, police seized an iron-ore laden truck by conducting a raid in Suleipata area last night and arrested two persons.
The held accused duo has been identified as the driver and helper of the seized truck.
As per the report, the Rairangpur Town Police had kept goods trucks plying in Saraskanana area under scanner for pat few months following regular complaints of illegal mining. Based on an input received late last night at around 3.30 am, a police team intercepted a 12-wheeler truck bearing registration number-OR 11K 5244 near the Suleipata mines area and carried out a search inside it.
As during the document verification, the driver and helper of the truck failed to produce the necessary license for iron-ore transport, they were taken into custody and the vehicle was seized.
The seized iron-ore was being smuggled to neighbouring Jharkhand State from Suleipata area, said police.
Cases under Section 18 of the Mines and Minerals Act has been lodged against the accused duo post their arrests.
