It, however, seems that the police and local administration have turned mute spectators to the unlawful activities.
According to the information, Christian missionaries, active in small towns and villages, lure the vulnerable locals, particularly those from the Tribal community, and allegedly convert them to Christianity.
They also threaded the local tribal people with severe consequences if they do not comply with their demands.
Recently, a new controversy over unlawful religious conversion had emerged in the area. However, the religious conversion was foiled by the activist of the Bajrang Dal.
“On every Sunday Christian missionaries visit the rural areas and forcefully convert people to Christianity,” said a member of Bajrang Dal.
“Around 15 families have been forcefully converted to Christianity. Upon getting information, we reached the spot and foiled their attempt,” said another member of Bajrang Dal.
They have been converted on the pretext of free treatment, he added.
However, the converted people said that they have embraced Christianity of their own. “When my husband was ill and suffering from diseases, I took him to Balasore and SCB Medical College and Hospital for his treatment, but in vain. So I came here as I have heard that many people are being cured here,” said a woman.
