The yellow alert of the IMD signifies that the authorities should 'be updated' on the situation.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak till 8.30 am of Friday, said the IMD’s latest bulletin.
The weathermen also forecast that light to moderate rain or thundershower are very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam and at one or two places over the rest districts of the State during the period.
Today, the highest maximum temperature of 42.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Baripada and the lowest minimum temperature of 18.7 degree Celsius was recorded at Rayagada in the plains of the State, said the bulletin.
There will be no large change in maximum temperature (Day temperature) during next 48 hours and gradual rise thereafter by 2-3 degree Celsius across the State, it added.
