Bhubaneswar, Apr 9: In view of sharp rise in Covid 19 positive cases being witnessed Odisha for a few days now, the State Prisons Directorate has asked Jail Superintendents to prevent spread of Coronavirus inside the prisons.
The Directorate has issued instructions in this respect.
According to the instructions, all Covid positive prisoners should be sent to nearest Covid Care Centres and critically patients to nearby Covid Care Hospitals. Positive Covid cases should not be kept in jail premises.
They will be shifted to CCCs or CCHs by the concerned remanding agencies like police, forest, excise or Vigilance with the permission of remanding courts.
They will be shifted to jails after being recovered from the virus, said the order.
