--Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal appointed retired IPS officer and former Tamil Nadu DGP Jalada Kumar Tripathy as Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Odisha.
Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal on Thursday appointed retired IPS officer and former Tamil Nadu DGP Jalada Kumar Tripathy as Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Odisha on recommendation of the State Government.
A selection committee chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had chosen Tripathy’s name as CIC Odisha earlier. Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Pradipta Naik and Law Minister Pratap Jena are other members of the selection committee. The CIC post had been lying vacant since completion of Sunil Mishra’s stint on August 15, 2021.
Tripathy, a 1985-batch IPS officer, had retired as DGP, Tamil Nadu on June 30, 2021. He had also served as the Chennai Police Commissioner.
He is credited to have been honoured with “Pradhan Mantri Award” for his astounding performance in public administration. Tripathy is native of Veda village under Salipur in Cuttack district.
