Bhubaneswar, Apr 22: Nearly three months after the alleged murder of Rama Devi Women’s University student Jharaphula Nayak, one more accused of the crime was arrested from the capital city of Odisha on Thursday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shakti Sekhar Swain of Bhubaneswar, said Jajpur Police.
Earlier two persons including prime accused Rakesh Swain and his accomplice Amresh Rout were arrested in connection to the alleged murder of the 21-year-old girl.
Notably, the Kuakhia police in Jajpur district had recovered the body of 21-year-old Jharaphula near Mulapal on January 27 this year. Some local residents had spotted the body lying along the Mulapal-Dialakhandi road and informed the Kuakhia police.
The prime accused Rakesh was arrested earlier following the Call Details Record (CDR) and CCTV footage along the Mulapal-Dialakhandi road. His accomplice Amresh was arrested from the State Capital on April 11. Further investigation is underway, police said.
Jharaphula hailed from Marundeipasi village under Jashipur police station limits in Mayurbhanj district and was a +3 second year student of the Rama Devi Women’s University.
